Must be something wrong with the brakes on the newer ones. I'm well over 141000 miles and the front pads are still like new.

My sons truck has the pads and rotors on from that EGR site and they seem to do pretty well. They also supply the high pressure stainless hoses too. LPD at the top of the page carries these parts too.

I am running Porterfield Racing Brakes street version - they are carbon/kevlar and are supposed to be less dusty than the Performance Friction CarbonMetallics. Same price as PF pads. Porterfield sells the PF stuff as well as full-on race pads - when I asked they said for the weight of our trucks the carbon metallics will generate too much heat and wear the rotors much faster than carbon/kevlar. Same stopping power, less wear, less dust. I have to agree with the less dust after about 25K miles on mine.

I've been told that if you use carbon pads you are then stuck using carbon pads with those rotors due to carbon "contamination".

I had Bendix Met-Loks installed...I'm happy.

I used Wagner pads from the local O Reilly store and they are the best ones I've had yet, maybe even better than the factory. My 2 cents is to spend the money on good ones, don't cheap out.

That's not saying much. My stock pads only lasted 16k, the ones from Sam Peterson 80k+

I had a problem wearing out front pads fast, caused by the heavy loads I pull.....15000 miles on a set was good for me...until I put on Ceramic Pads so far I've got 20000 miles on them and they are about 1/2 gone

SEVERE-DUTY CERAMIC DISC BRAKE PADS Require less pedal effort to ensure smoother stops Handle extremely high heats and recover much faster than semi-metallic pads Eliminate 99% of noise?the quietest aftermarket pads sold! Superior to metal-based pads! Ceramic pads?the cutting edge of disc brake technology and the choice of leading manufactures for their top-end vehicles. The first choice because they deliver the performance you want (even under extreme conditions) while operating quietly, smoothly and cleanly. And they're priced right?other pads can't compare. Dust will not bond to wheels. Last up to 70% longer than traditional pads. No abrasive steel and copper to shorten rotor life. Ceramic friction has a high modulus of elasticity for unmatched performance (all are D3EA certified).

On another thread you reccommended going to Discount Tire I think it was, and getting the Hawks pads...so now I'm confused, which is it?

I think it was you also that mentioned something about the right side brakes being touchy/sensitive/easy wearing or something? What's the deal with that?

Thanks.

Go to www.tirerack.com for Hawk pads. Sam is now retired.
Not sure what you mean by a right side problem.
Possibly an inside pad wearing faster due to a bad caliper?

Can't find the thread now of course. Just thought I saw mention of a problem with right side wearing faster. Oh well.

I saw another thread where you had mentioned another brand of pad being the best match to our trucks too, can't remember what it was called though. Ah well again!

Thumbs down Pads

I'll tell you what. I just installed a set of duralast pads from autozone to replace the pads I bought from O'rielly with these, and these are junk too.

Both of them squeak and squeal like hell, and now I think I have bigger problems becuase my brake light and ABS light stay on for periods of time, and Yes i have plenty of fluid.

I going to take them back..I bought a set of Semi-Metallic Raybestos brakes from Pep boys. Somebody will get this right...

Any Ideas on why the lights came on????
