temp blend actuator

Had a blend door actuator burn up.(full heat, would not adjust, pulled it out and apart and circuit board was burned up) I replaced it, and now with the cold/hot adjustment, i either get full hot or full cold, there isnt any inbetween. Any help would be great. Is there a certain way to install it? Such as putting it full cold before installing.
Thanks

I had my motor off a while back to check it out..here's what I found...motor in your hand and plugged in so you can see the movement of the output shaft...when the temp **** is at max cold or max heat the motor will not stop turning...when the blend door is totally opened or closed it will choke the motor down and the circuit board will cut it off...anything between max cold and max heat, the motor will barely move and cut off with each click of the temp ****. I do not think a new motor and be installed wrong.
