Re:to tall?

Stay with the 245s. I'm switching back from 265 to make my 3.55 rear end 3.55 instead of 3.40s.

It looks very flat and perfectly setup for your towing.

Re:to tall?

FWIW - I ran 285/75/16's on 16x8 custom wheels until recently, and I now am running 295/75's on my 99 Quad LB CTD. I don't have any lift at all on the truck, and I have 4.10's and the automatic (sorry - not sure what the tranny designation is. I'm a newbie to this list! ;-) My only real complaint about the truck is the 4.10/AT combo. The only pulling I do is a 4000# ski boat here in the Northwest. With the 4.10's, I can pull straight up any hill to about 50, 55 MPH before OD kicks in (high R's though). Once in OD, my R's drop to like 1400, 1500 and I lose speed like it's going out of style. In short, the gap between the top regular gear and OD is too much. I had contemplated trying to gear back down to the 3.55 thinking that will help bridge the gap, but it seems like an extreme measure. I may sell the truck (and pick up a newer one of course) before I go down that road.

Any thoughts on what I can do to help this 'feature'?

Thanks for your thoughts!

PS - In case you were wondering (probably not! ) the 285's fit perfectly, never rubbing on anything, even with no lift. The 295's work well, but do rub on my Dodge mud flaps. I hear that 35's (roughly a 315?) fit great on an '03 with no lift though... ;-)
