Suddenly, my fuel mileage is lousy. Anyone else?
Re:Suddenly, my fuel mileage is lousy. Anyone else?
Whew! Glad it's not just me. I figured it had something to do with the cold weather. Funny thing is, it started going down at the same time I put on the Scotty II so my wife IMMEDIATELY thought it was because of that! She said "well if you didn't have to constantly be fiddling with the truck maybe we wouldn't have this problem"....God bless her, she just doesn't understand ;D
Re:Suddenly, my fuel mileage is lousy. Anyone else?
Those Scotty II's are designed to siphon off small amounts of fuel everynight and send it home to the designer ;D
You got to look out for that spyware you know!

Its the blend-energy in=energy out-#2 has about 147k of btu in it and #1 can be as low as 125k of btu. I burn 1000's
of gal of waste oil, tranny oil, almost anything I can get-
(french fry oil smells the best) but gear lube takes it all-
250k of btu but its a bear to preheat.Anything I can't get to flow I thin with spent parts cleaner or gas and I don't have to worry about the wax build up. Hey- thanks to everyone for all their help-its a great site!

My latest additive test involved using Power Service's "Diesel Kleen". I saw a definite improvement with interstate driving. I drove 250 miles, and was getting 16.5 MPG using no additives. Then I came back using 16 oz. of Diesel Kleen to a full tank of fuel and got 19.3 MPG.; same route. But, the additive barely paid for itself as I saw a net savings of only $.50 for a trip of this distance. At one point I was seeing over 20MPG with the additive, but a short break off the interstate for lunch brought it down and I never saw "20" again. Of course, I would see a greater savings if my distance would have been farther. So, I give a thumbs up for Power Service "Diesel Kleen".

Maybe I should try some of that additive.

My last tank was 15 MPG. This is terrible!! ???

I drive 10 miles in to town at 60 MPH. 5 miles through town stop and go. Then 10 miles back home at 60 MPH.

I am beginning to wonder if there is something wrong. I have 6800 miles on the truck and the best has been 16.5 MPG. I guess the bright side is that I only lost 1.5 MPG so far this winter.

Yep you got to love these Real CTD's for their mileage, those overvalvers just aint got the 20+ mpg in them. But then if I don't shave about 10 lbs off my right foot, mine doesn't either ;D

Stands back and awaits the flurry of thrown snowballs

You will be able to tell the ones thrown at ya from the South,,,,,,,,, they're gonna be the ones with ROCKS in the center!

"Undervalvers",,,,,,,,,, :
,,,,,, they're all alike!
BTW,,, I'm still getting at least 20mpg so far this winter,,,(edit note:This is 99.5% highway-50miles a day) ;D

What does it do out on the highway on a trip? About 20000 miles, it will run a little better, about 50000 miles it will run still a little better and once you turn the first 100000, it will really start to run then. This is my third diesel and you need to run them.

Another thing you have to consider Ballbearing, is the mileage you're doing. When it's cold, I know it takes mine at least 10 miles before the temp guage is nearing 190[sup]o[/sup]. A cold engine won't make good fuel mileage. Also town driving can knock the stuffing out of good fuel mileage. I do a 250 mile trip often. I can get off the interstate with 20 MPG on the computer, but by the time I get to my destination in town, just a few miles away, my reading is down by .5 MPG. I think you're getting decent mileage with all things considered. If you're in a cold climate like me, hold on until April when unblended fuel returns and I think you'll see a big improvement.
