Steering box loose/dripping

Is it feasible to pull the box and replace seals/bearing, or must the box be replaced.

Additionally, is there any reason to not install a DSS? They are manufactured only one province away.

hi
where is the box leaking ?

i put new seals in where the stearing wheel shaft connects $25.00 from dealer seal and a o ring ,leak gone there !

look at dealer service manuel while there to see wherre the o ring goes as i think that is what was leaking !

box was easy to remove and install , just unbolt the sway bar mounts an let bar drop out of the way , to make it a lot easier !

you will be able to easily adjust the box while out to eliminate any play an it will drive beter than new!

Sorry for the long delay in me posting again... it looks like it is leaking out the pitman arm shaft (output shaft)... but there is also some sideways movement, so the bearing inside is worn.

not sure about the gear box, sounds like it needs replaced. After that search "solid steel" they sell a brace that adds kind of a carrier bearing and supports the shaft. A good idea if you have larger tires.

Yeah, I'm just going to replace the box... I've found a reman for not too much from a reputable supplier. The "repair kit" I saw only included seals.

The good old DSS... fortunately enough for me, it is manufactured only one province over - I run stock tires, but I'm planning to get one to prevent future wear/looseness.
