Will the sensor eventually dry out or do I need to take it apart, dry it and apply dialectric grease?

Hi Saileron,

My truck the ABS comes on then goes off for awhile then back on. Seems like dampness are a factor. I unplugged the connector on the DS fender and cleaned that with electric cleaner that seemed to help. The braking imo is kinda sketchy with or without the ABS it brakes the same. Pulls to left if panic stop otherwise normal braking... "I think"

Actually the RWABS (kelsey-heyes)system in these trucks is known to panic when somethings wrong - panic stop could result in the RWAL not being able to function and disabling the rear brakes....not something you want to experience- same result in your undies as the Death Wobble @ 65mph!

Change the sensor in the rear diff and make sure the rear brakes are adjusted properly (back up, step on the brakes HARD and hold them till the truck stops moving. if you let up while still in motion no adjustment is done)

Could be Vacuum issue as well- another thread on here recently related to that. ABS light signals any flaw in the ABS system or vacuum system.

Diesel-Power_2, I have all the exact same symptoms, including pulling to the left on hard braking. This is after a manual adjustment. I'll look into the sensor, but as some have noted, in the final analysis it may be better to disable the ABS . The entire system is ill-conceived as far as I'm concerned.

Its most likely moisture at a connection. Mine got obliterated by gravel and fell apart. Make sure all the connections are clean and dry. The sensor for me just up and failed one day. I checked it with just an ohm meter and it was failed open, replaced it and heat shrinked all the connections. The sensor is only available from Dodge too as most parts suppliers can't get one anymore.

The connection on the sensor is supposed to be a weatherpack- check the inside of it for dirt, clean the gasket and put some dielectric grease in there to protect it. The sensor itself in the diff is potted - if it fails it fails, no way for water to get in or the diff oil could get in.

pulling to the left on hard breaking may just be the brakes- one caliper sticking, one rear drum not adjusting, one of the left side being glazed... pulling is not usually related to ABS systems, it's usually mechanical brake issues.
