Speedometer issues

Hey Guy's it seems as though my speedo is going south on me? It started acting up after the last heavy snow storm that I rode all day in? The trany was rebuilt around 10k ago Is there anything that I should be looking for? Or is this a typical issue with a 95 truck of this age?
Thanks

Your speed sensor is mounted on the transfer case, has nothing to do with the rebuild. If it is working sporadically the little square shaft inside is broken. Not real expensive. Before you pull it be sure to note the mounting position. It DOES matter how it goes back in.

It has been a few years, but IIRC it was less than $50. Possibly find one in a salvage yard. A call to NAPA or Auto Zone will tell if they carry them.

Hey wanted to add in my problem and solution. My 99 has a VSS or (vehicle speed sensor) located on the top of the rear pumpkin , mine did go bad causing the Speedometer to fail below 20mph, and also manged to keep the ABS as well as the break lights on ( lit in the dash) never did find out if I even had a speed sensor on the tranny. Does your have the rear pumpkin sensor? If so I found one in a junkyard for 20 bucks, been working now for 2 months, (fingers crossed)
