softer riding 2500?

Anyone try to soften the ride of their 2500? I don't plan on towing anything large/heavy, would like to entertain the idea of figuring out how to soften the ride. Maybe even lower it just a tad, like get rid of the 2" front spacer and make the rear to match. Any problems with removing the spacer between the two leaf packs on the rears? Probably the only way to get softer springs is to get new spring packs with thinner springs and more springs per pack?

I've heard of people just removing a couple of leaves and being very happy with the results. Never tried it myself though.

A softer riding version of the 2500 is called a 1500!!

Try removing a leaf out back and get the weak springs for the front, I think they are 036's but check the tech section of the Geno's page for sure.

I am getting a complete Starter Kit installed at the end of July when I am in Edmonton. It has got to make the northern roads a bit easier on my back.

I guess I will know when I return to Yellowknife in August.

Thanks for the information.

Will do.

Just for the record, I have added a PACBRAKE Leveling Kit along with a set of front SUPERSPRINGS SumoSprings to try and improve the ride on our arctic roads. They helped, but not enough.

So since the less expensive option didn't work for me, I decided on a suspension upgrade. I reviewed many options and decided on CARLI as my starting point and selected the Starter Kit to start at.

is this for your truck you have listed in your sig or for a 2nd gen?

I own both and can only speak for the improvements on a 2nd gen, my 3rd gen rides better on stock suspension.

if for your 3rd gen call Carli and talk to them to make sure this will do what you want it to.

I too have learned things the hard way,

It is for a 3rd Gen.

I did a significant amount of research and believe the Carli Starter should give me what I am looking for.

My only concern is that if I get a front bumper mounted winch I may have to up my coil springs to a 6 inch lift to compensate for the weight.

My other option is to get a Firestone Level-Rite air over shock setup.

Only by trial will I know for sure.
