Shock Mounting Bolt - Help with Bolt Sizes
Shock Mounting Bolt - Help with Bolt Sizes
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 CTD - I have ordered KYB Monomax shocks to replace the original stock shocks - the truck only has 93K on it. I figure I should replace the mounting bolts and nuts they look a bit rusty. But I don't know what size bolts it needs.
They look like flange bolts to me - if I cannot find flange bolts I will just use a 2nd washer.
Anyway, can someone let me know what size bolts I should pick up at the hardware store - I was going to get Grade 8 in the appropriate size(s).
For the Front - it looks like I only need the lower bolt or bolt and washers. I don't think I need a top - is this correct? If so what size bolt should I buy?
For the Read - it looks like I need upper and lower bolts. What size(s) of bolts do I need for the rears?
Thanks for the assistance!

And yea, your new shocks will come with a new nut for the stud at the top.
thank you sir
I picked up 6 14mm 2.0 80mm Grade 8.8 bolts and nuts. Got 10 1/2" washers that slipped just nicely on the bolts so I should be good to go. Dodge wanted almost $8.00 a bolt I expect they were flange bolts so I would not have needed a washer - but I got bolts for about $3.00 from the hardware store and washers were only .25 each. Thank you for the assist.

You would want grade 10.9 to get to a SAE grade 8.
I don't know if the original bolts in there were 8.8 or 10.9.
