Seat fix

Well, I'm sure a lot of you know about this, but I'll mention it for those that don't.

Like lots of you Dodge owners, I was suffering from the common driver's side seat break-down. Mine wasn't bad by any means, but i was starting to notice the difference between the right and left sides of my driver's side seat bottom cusion. The outside was starting to break down from sliding out of the truck. To the point that the fabric was beginning to get a small rip.

The fix is too easy. Get a 10mm socket and a ratchet, a beer, and about 20 minutes of your afternoon.

If you look under the seat, you'll see the four bolts that hold the bottom cusion to the seat frame. Simply unbolt the seat bottoms and swap the passenger and driver side out. You won't believe how much more comfortable the passenger seat is, and it will look better, too.

I also pulled the plastic trim off of the outside of both seats and tightened up the brackets that the plastic attatches to. It took out some wiggle, and got the plastic to fit up to the cusion better.

There you go. Now have a second beer.

Will this work on a "96 club cab? Mine look like the seat back is integrated with the bottom.

I love it - let the passenger suffer for once!

While you have the cushion out put some cheap carpet or the like between the foam and the springs and wire holding it up. Seat will last a lot longer!!

So.....does that mean it will work on my "96 club cab? I like the carpet idea. makes a lot of sense. Also- is it just me, or does it seem like my driver's side seat is higher than my passenger's?

Dont switch the seats - get some 1" foam, pull back the cover install the foam as well as some carpet underneath the oem foam. Youll think your seats are new.

But by switching the seats side for side, you also hide the tears on the edge of the seat because they are now up against the center seat

Sorry I'm not sure, Ive never been in a 2nd gen other than mine lol. If the seat bottom and back are seperate it should work. Go out and look at your seat see if there is 4 bolts holding the bottom on and if it is a seperate piece from the back.

I tried switching yesterday on my 96. The pass. side has a lever on the door side that when you switch would put it against the center console.
