Running lights not working

So driving home the other day my buddy told me both my running lights are not working so I went to auto zone and just grabbed some bulbs and replaced them and that didn't work and I notice that my passenger side blinker or break light did not work as well. The only thing that works on that tail light would be my reverse lights i went and checked fuses and there were all good so now I figuring it is a short. So I went searching for it and right away I saw that my license plate wires where like pulled off and dangling could this be the cause of the short? How can I fix it?

I thought the DRL module was only in Canada - we don't know where this guy is.

Not sure we are talking about daytime running lights. I got the impression we're talking about both tail lights, and the RH brake and turn signal. It doesn't sound like a short as there are no fuses blown. Probably just some corrosion in a damaged connector, or some broken bare wiring.

Anywhere somebody has spliced in wiring for a trailer connector is very suspect. Also, follow the wiring harness along the frame right from the firewall to the tail lights, give it a good visual inspection for previous repairs or gravel damage.
