rough ride
rough ride
Although i have not had the pleasure to ride in a 2003, every dodge i have rode in(total of 6 trucks) seems to have a very rough ride. My truck has overload springs and not sure on shocks. i have only 50-55 lbs of pressure in the tires. Can anyone explain why dodges seem to have a bumpy ride compared to ford, chevy?
Does anyone have suggestions how to smooth my truck out?
Re:rough ride
Because the Ford and Chevy have a wimpier suspension than the Dodge?
It's a truck, it's supposed to ride like a truck. I figure my 1999 2500 4x4, SWB could ride a little smoother sometimes, but then I listen to that Cummins and the ride is forgotten. When I want a smooth ride I drive my BMW.
The camper special Rams have a sway bar in the rear that will stiffen the ride a bit. I have heard you can unhook that and it will ride a little smoother, but won't handle as well. BigBlue did that and can tell you about his experience.

Re:rough ride
I have the camper special (overload springs) which are great for towing my gooseneck trailer but not good bouncing over frost heavied roads in Northern Minnesota.

I solved most of my problems with Rancho 9000x adjustable shocks. They adjust from 1 to 9 with 9 being the firmest. I generally run 4 all around and ride is great but not as good as my Audi. I run 5 in front and 8 in rear for towing and makes the truck and trailer run smooth, stable and safe.
