My 97 trailer blinker and hazard is not working on the right side. The trailer brake light on that side still works fine. Running lights are working. All the lights on the truck itself are working. I checked my fuses and flashers on the left side of the dash and the relays under the hood next to the drivers side battery. I swapped the multifunction switch and the problem wasn't solved. I know it is the truck and not the trailer by using a plug adapter with the leds on it. Since the brake light on that side is working, I don't think it is the wire to the plug. Am I missing another set of relays somewhere?

Everything that I've come up with searching the forums comes back to 3rd gen trucks, but I haven't seen anything for the 2nd gen trucks. Anybody have any ideas for me?

 

Get a test light, and test all of the pins on the truck's trailer socket. If it works there, then the problem is on the trailer side.

Most trailer light problems are caused by dirty or corroded contacts in the truck socket, trailer plug, or both. If it has been a while since you cleaned them, wouldn't hurt to do so.

 

I'm 99% the problem is somewhere on the truck side. The trailer works fine when hooked up to another truck. Also, I already cleaned then tested the plug terminal with a multimeter. The same wire that runs the brake light also runs the blinker. When I test it, the brake light works fine but the blinker doesn't.

 

Turns out the plug was wired incorrectly by the previous owner.
