Replace Coil Spring Isolators?

Next week I will be putting in a 2" leveling kit and new shocks, do the stock Coil Spring Isolators wear out? reason I ask is the truck rocks back hard during the most normal stop and feels terrable like the entire truck is "loose" I use energy suspention products on my Hondas but cannot find them for the dodge ram. Should I re-use the stock isolator?

Hmm...Good question Joe....I had mine out and they seemed ok..My truck has 260K miles..Maybe some of the other members would know..

If you have time...You should also replace the control arm bushings...I also use the energy suspention products on my truck and collector cars..

The ureatan bushings on the control arms sure thighten up my frontend..

oh wow, I did some research and energy does make control arm bushings for our trucks and they look easier to install than my honda. Not my video, but its exactly what I did to my civic and was a huge PITA

When I did mine..I didn't even lift the Dodge up....For safety I did one bar at a time...flat on the ground...The only pain I had....The darn grade 8 bolts where rusted on, and bad....I landed up cheisling one off...But that was only one bolt out of 8...

Ow...the Honda looks painfull...

how long did it take? were they simple to install? I work 6 days a week so im not really looking forward to another control arm repair after haveing to use a log splitter to remove the stock honda ones, but i think ( no im sure ) mine are toast and thats whats causeing the crappy loose feel

Yes...Thats the ones I installed...I would say it took me about 3 to 4 hours..But included cheisling one bolt head off, then using the air punch to drive the bolt out...Also don't forget to mark your front caster bolt (Lower bolts)..For some reason I replaced one front caster bolt...This is a special cam style bolt...I got mine from Dodge and I think it was about $25...

My alignment didn't change because I did the swap without lifting the truck...But please be carefull if you do it this way..I only did one bar at a time...I don't know if there was a chance of the front diff flipping out..

Best to jack the front in up and do it that way...Better to be safe..

Removing the old bushings was very easy...Just a cheisl and a hammer and they fall out...
