recall aggravation

i called today to get my recalls done hoodlatch and throttle linkage. i hate taking my truck to a dealer but i have to on recalls and because the throttle's sticking. well anyway called to get it in today and was told by 2 dealer ships that they couldn't give me a loner car but they could rent me one. i find it rediculous that i have to pay for a rental car just because dodge can't build a quality vehicle. i called the daimler chrysler customer complaint line and they told me that they couldn't do anything because it was at dealer discretion if they wanted to give me a loner or not

The VW and Dodge I now go to are great, loaners or a ride my preference. But the ones I don't use, I spread the word about them. VW of Canada is not nice to deal with at all they are so bad makes you want to sell the car. IMO

Safety recalls are good for the life of the vehicle.

i think the administrators on here should start a page of dealerships that we can go on and tell our bad experiences and good experiences with dealers. they could list it by states and we could fill in which dealers and our experiences so other members would know what kind of people they are dealing with. by the way the dealers are edit and edit

Jack and Lary don't want the headaches of the possible legal ramifications.

There is however a well established Dealer survey locate here:

another idea, can an administrator make a page that lists recalls on specific trucks. Does anyone know what may have been recalled on my truck?

I had my old Ram in for a bad pinging in the motor 10+ times and everytime they gave me a hard time about a rental, but everytime I gave them a harder time and I got what I wanted.
It is amazing you give them a $40,000 truck and they do everything they can to not give you a disposable NEON....

Yea, the ford dealer tried to give my brother in law a ranger while he took his 1 month old f 250 in to have the transmission replaced. He asked the salesman what kind of car he drove, His reponse: a 04 mustang convertible. B-I-L says ok, you take your mustang and they give you a focus wagon to drive. salesman changed his tune: oh I see your point they gave him an earlier model 250

took it in to have the recall done the other day. when i went to pick it up they told me they fixed the recalls but they said my problem was the throttle cable that is in the cab was frayed and on its last wire. so itold them to order the part and i would fix it. he pulled my truck out of the garage and i jumped in to drive away and the accelerator pedal was laying on the floor no tension at all. i just worked an 18 hour day and have had problems with this dealer before so i'm not very happy at this point. i jumped out of the truck and yell at him to get over here he's llike i told you it was on its last wire and it broke during the recall install. MY QUESTION TO YOU GUYS. HOW DOES A FRAYED CABLE CAUSE THE THROTTLE TO STICK AND THEN WHEN IT BREAKS HAVE NO PEDAL PRESSURE AT ALL AND THE RPMS ARE FINE. this is the second time i have taken a truck to them and something has broken while they were working on it. i figured i would be safe havind a recall done by them. now the recall cost me $300. the rental car is $150 and the cable is $150 installed. hopefully they will have it done by next sunday so i can take my truck to haisley's to have my clutch installed.

Hale - they broke a part on your truck while it was in their custody - I'd say they owe you at the very least, the free part.
