Ive got a problem with the drivers side rear quad cab door. Unfortunately this is not the first time its happened, last time I had the dealer fix it under warranty since the truck was there anyways. 4 months later and its screwed up again.

The problem with it is basically that it just wont open . I have to press on the outside of the door while pulling the handle in order to open it.

Anyone else had this happen? If so, what is it?
I hate opening up door panels so Id like to fix this once and for all

it seems like something is loose inside. I say this because the problem got progressively worse through time. At first it just took some extra effort to open it, now I have to slam on the door


Im like you though, dont wanna go through opening up the door without knowing whats wrong and how to fix it first


anyone else got this prob?

Check to see if the striker plates at the top and bottom might have moved causing to tight of a closing of the door.

 

mine done that, it was with the bottom latch plate at the bottom of the door. I just opened the door, it takes a torks head i don't remember which one, you loosen it and can move it in or out. Just be carfull not to go to far, it will bring the front door out at the top can cause it to leak air, if its not in line with the top one. The top one is a little harder to get to because of the plastic to hold the headliner up. Hope to have helped some. Its not hard to fix but it might require you to have to play with it a bit to find exactly where to leave them, goodluck

 

I would take it back to the dealer.They do have it on record that
u had problems with it,so they should continue to service it under
warranty,I THINK.Just my .02

 

I pulled mine apart last weekend for the same thing it only cost me 10 bucks to replace the one way clips and the job is really easy. Basically the shaft that pulls the latch open has slipped of or down the grips that hold it to the door handle i fixed mine and also put a little JB weld around it to keep it from slipping again. The only thing you should watch as with all plastics is becare full if it is cold and not pliable, as it may and will crack.

 

I assume that you start by taking the handle off of the door?

I took the two screws out of the inside handle that you close the door with, then one screw hidden in the handle of the door then popped out all the one way holders ( some can be prided out and are replaceable some are not) and exposed the door hardware through the factory assembly opening. Once you get the door panel of it's really simple to fix, I had to do it all the time on my jeep hence why I used JB weld the first time on the truck it gets to be a little stale after the 10 fix. Just Dig In!

 

I tried adjusting the striker plate, didnt seem to make a difference. Lately everytime I open the door it gets harder to open

Greenworks : I seem to recall the dealer talking about the same thing you are. Those 1 way clips you mentioned, where do you get them? They aren't a dealer only piece are they?

I grabbed mine one way clips from a local Acklands store, there cheap.... I didn't even try dodge I would guess that they would be double just the rest of their parts

 

Sorry, but what's Acklands? Don't have those around these parts.

What is acklands?..... Same as NAPA, BUmper to Bumper etc typical parts store with jobber filter's etc. Sorry for the Canadian Confusion ...... Eh!

I had the dealer fix mine because it quit opening, and it only lasted a week! So I took it apart and fixed it correctly myself. There is a plate inside with a hole in it, that is suppose to fit over a small boss. I slid it back over the boss and then put some blue locktite on the bolt before reassembling it.

A year later and it still works great.
