Unhappy Rear brakes height sensing valve

Well Iv'e just about had it with Dodge Parts and Service. The rear brake height sensing valve needs to be replaced because the steel line rusted away along with most of the conection at the valve. Replacing the line and valve is not so bad but the valve is not available from Dodge or any place else untill early December! Unless I bypass the valve the truck sits at home untill December sometime! Has anybody had to replace this part any advice?

Tried a local boneyard?

Pre-owned will make the grade for considerably less outlay - and you might see something else you absolutely cannot live without, eh?

I have removed several of those and installed the bypass hose from the bulletin. There wasn't a problem with the valves, I was just looking for better braking. The bypass hose worked well.

i just had the same problem a month ago and the valve was supposed to be on backorder till december like u said. my wife(secretary) called dodge customer service and they located one out of the state. i also talked to a dodge tech and he said worse case you bypass the valve and you shouldnt have any problem at all. actually have better rear braking power if you do that but i just had a new one installed. pricey though $400 just for the valve

I took it all apart this weekend and was able to save the valve and just replace the lines. The valve was not as bad as the dealer led me to believe. You know what they say if you want it done do it yourself. The dealer did quote me $475.00 for the job but doing it all myself it only took me a couple of hours and under $50.00 in parts. Thanks all for the advice.

Good job - just noticed your NH location, so, yeah, you'd probably have a difficult time locating a pristine replacement.

I built my truck outta boneyard parts, where most were in much better shape than the ones on my truck.

Don't snow much, down here.
