Deleting the height sensing proportion valve?

Anybody know if this is possible? I think I read somewhere you can replace it with a brake part from a 1 Ton. I've disconnected the rod from the axle and the valve seems not be working at all. I'm worried the valve is interfering with proper braking on the rear axle. Thanks for any help.

I have a Jeep comanche pickup with the same setup. With these trucks (which granted are a LOT smaller than the dodges) we just disco the lever/rod and tie it up high as if the truck had a load in it. Works just fine...even with my comanche having 3/4 ton sized disc brakes in the rear.

On my '99 I completely bypassed using parts from Mopar included in a TSB for constantly loaded trucks(they knew the rear drums sucked). The above suggestion will work as well. Between this and 1-ton rear wheel cylinders, the braking was marginally improved.

A Smart Controller and Pacbrake complemented my DTT enhanced tranny to finally give me safe stopping power.

I disconnected the rod from the axle and when I move it up and down it moves so freely that it makes me think the proportioning valve is broken or disfunctional. I'd like to figure out a way to remove the thing completely.

My Mopar part completely bypassed it. I removed the proportioning valve and chucked it. There's got to be a flexible threaded hose out there that will work. Bleeding the brakes will be necessary.
