Radio, Interior Lights, & Cargo Lights do not work???

My truck is a 98.5 2500 Auto Club Cab 4x4 short bed.

I have checked every fuse I can find, the panel beside the steering wheel and behind the drivers side battery under the hood, they are all fine. I have even went as far as changing a good fuse with a new fuse for the ones that I thought it may be.

My radio does not work, nor does the interior and cargo lights. What could it be? I have 0 volts at all locations and i can not find where the wires go. I have checked schematics, checked the fuses associated with the system and still no luck.

I'm not sure what happened, its strange though, the radio has the green illumination lights however it does not display time or give any sign of functioning.

help!

Do the fuses have power to them?

I don't know if this is your problem or not, but when I bought my 99 the cargo light didn't work, Replacement of the bulbs did not help, The dealer found that the BCM was bad and replaced it. It was just my cargo light though.
BCM: Body Control Module

I have had vehicles without power to the fuses before. It could be a poor connection, bad fuse box, broken wire feeding the fuses. It is easy to check with a test light and will rule out one more thing.

I had the same problem (no radio, cargo or interior lights) after installing a subwoofer amplifier. For me it was a burned out relay under the dash. I don't know which one because I took it in to the dealer for that fix.

Good luck,

Daniel

Check the IOD fuse. It's #12 in the panel on the side of the dash. It has that goofy little holder thing on it. Can't even tell if the fuse is burned unless you take it completely out. HTH

This is what it was, I never checked this fused I thought maybe i shouldnt mess with it since it was in the "locked holder"... why is it in this thing by the way? I didnt want to touch it cuz it was in the same type of holder as the airbag fuses.

Anyway yes this fuse was blown, all is well now, but dang that little fuse caused the interior, cargo, and radio to not work but let the radio illumination work....

I may also be crazy but when the switch was off i could not get either the passenger or driver side seat belt to come out, it was constantly "locked" until i turned the switch on and then they would come out. My wife said she couldnt get the seat belt out unless i turned the switch on, i told her she was crazy til i realized mine did it too. After replacing the fuse i could get them out whenever i pulled... weird huh... i thought i was going crazy myself!

Thanks guys

Wow, glad it was a fuse and not a BCM.

Just installed **** mirrors

Thanks guys for the heads up on the IOD fuse...installed electric/heat extendable **** mirrors tonight and interior lights/radio went out after using the electric mirror toggle. Went through all the fuses could not find the burnt one...didn't want to pull the IOD and it has the same kind of safety feature as the air bag fuses. So got on the internet and found this thread...helped out immensely. But I now have a problem with the driver side mirror only working 2 out of the 4 directions. Could it be the control module?

I just found this thread too. Very helpful.

My radio, interior lights, obd port, power mirrors all died after the IOD fuse blew out. I just installed a set of aftermarket power heated towing mirrors that match the stock OEM ones.

I still need to replace the fuse, but are my mirrors going to blow this fuse all the time? If that is the case, I should have left the manual towing mirrors in place.

It's there so that if the truck will sit unused for a long period(such as on a dealer lot), you can pull the fuse to prevent battery drain. And you won't misplace the fuse.

Yep, these darn aftermarket mirrors keep blowing that dumb 10 amp fuse. I am tempted to put a larger fuse in there, but I know that is also dumb.

Do I send these mirrors back and convert my manual mirrors with 3rd gen parts? I'm getting a bit frustrated here.
