Question about bumper compatability

Hello,
I have an 02' RAM 2500,and recently, some moron badly dented my rear bumper in a parking lot and took off.I'd like to replace it with another stock bumper. And I'd like to know if model years other than just the 02' will work?I've seen quite a few newer ones available, and I'd like to know if I can use a bumper off an 03' or newer truck,as they seem more plentiflul. Thanks

My 98 is a sport model, will any 94-02 bumper work? How about the newer Rams?

Any 94-02 bumper should bolt right up, not sure on the 3rd gen bumpers , but somehow i don't see it fitting really well...

Even if an 03+ would bolt up I don't think it would look right. But any 94-02 would work.

Have you ever considered an aftermarket bumper?

for me, cheap is the name of the game, so I think the aftermarket is out. I would have been surprised if someone said the 3rd gen rear bumper would fit our 2nd gen truck, plus they'd probably be more expensive. I guess I was just bringing this thread btt since there were no replies and I stumbled on this thread. Oh, yeah, and I thought there might be a remote chance that the sport might have a different fit on the rear bumper, kind of like the front grill.

On the TV show Trucks I saw a 96' ford front end, lights fascia, bumpers , grill, replaced with 01 equipment. All bolted right on. I wonder if this is possible with a dodge.
