Pulling the Turbo Restrictor Plate...??!

Have been told by someone to pull out the ristrictor plate out of my turbo to increase airflow and increase mileage. I am running a Superchip in my 2000 4x4 Cummins. I have yet to pull off the muffler and resinator. Can I hurt my turbo or motor by pulling out this plate without any other modifications?

Sounds like you are referring to the "silencer ring".

Yes, you can pull it without damaging the turbo.
It is only there to quiet down the turbo "whistle", nothing more.
You won't see any other benefits like mileage or horsepower.
It will just sound like you have more power. ;D
