Power Window Switches Locking Doors

An electrical gremlin has come to visit today. When I push the driver's side window switch to raise either window the doors lock. I can still lock/unlock the doors with the door lock switch. I'm figuring a short in the switch. Is there a way to troubleshoot to confirm this before I buy a new switch?

You can pull the whole switch assembly out by taking the little plastic door handle out and pulling the plastic switch holder there could be a few wires there shorting but I doubt it. Im sure someone else will chime in on some other ideas.

I pulled the switch and there are no bare or shorting wires that I can see. The switch is sealed with no cracks etc.

Well the gremlin is getting more bold. The locks will now lock and relock even with the engine off. I turned off the truck making certain the doors were unlocked. Went inside the house for 20 minutes and came out to find both doors locked. My wife says she heard the locks cycling yesterday when she walked by.
Any thoughts? Could adding the Quad XZT+ or having the ECM flashed to correct for the new tire size cause this?

The only thing I would do is unplug the switch and see if it quits. If it doesn't then unplug the other switch ( pass side ) . if it still does it ...looks like a wiring problem. If it quits.....plug the driver's side back in and see......that will help narrow it down at least.

Check the wires where they go into the door, looks like a rubber accordian. They may have become damaged where they flex when you open and close the doors. Sounds like the insulation might becracking off and the wires are shorting together.

Does your truck have a remote door lock key fob, and/or do you know if the computer has anything to do with the door lock? From here, it sounds like electronic gremlins, not wiring issues, mainly because of the cycling when you are not in the vehicle and the key is out.

I do have the locking system/alarm key fob. BUT, both sets of keys were in my coat pocket in the house far away from the truck when it locked itself this evening. I believe it's electrical rather than wiring as well - I recently had the computer flashed to recalibrate the speedo and I added a Quad XZT+ and wonder if that may be an issue?!

I don't know anything about the XZT. Can you go back to stock and see if that takes care of it?

When I asked about the key fobs, I was just trying to determine if there were any electronics involved, versus just wires and switches. Since you do have that stuff, it could be a problem in the receiver for the key fobs, or it could be in the computer/electronics for the alarm system, or it could be elsewhere. The first thing I would do is to eliminate the Quad box as a possible culprit.

I read somewhere that unhooking both batteries for 30 min to 1 hr may help. I'll try that and see if there's any change. If not, I'll unhook the XZT+ and give it a try.
