Power Window Motor

Been having an issue with the power window on the drilvers door. It froze up about at the half way point of open. Don't know yet if it is the motor or the switch. Got the panel off, disconnected the switch, reached into the panel and tried to move things around a bit, reconnected the switch and managed to get the window back up with the motor. Will try cleaning the switch today.

If it is not the switch and the motor is faulty, where is a good place to get one and what is the approximate price. Also, how hard is it to replace and what steps are involved if anyone has ever done this. Thanks.

I bought a new window motor and regulator from rockauto.com. They were much cheaper than anyone else. It is a Dorman, which is supposed to be a good product. It took me about 45 minutes to swap it all out, and I had never done one before.

Hopefully its just the switch. They are susceptible to rain water when the windows are partially open and tend to corrode if wet. If you can get a switch from the wrecking yard it may be a lot cheaper and less time. Or see if a buddy will let you try his over a few pops! They come out pretty easy w/o having to pull the door panel...which is another can of worms completely.

Thanks Kurt - Believe it was the switch and sprayed it with contact cleaner and it is working - for now!
