Please help out a truck newbie.

I have always been into cars since I can remember and have owned a few including rx7's, 300zx's, fieros, bmw m3's, and a civic as well. However when it comes to trucks I don't know my abc's.

This being said, I'm in the market for a truck since I'm gonna be hauling stuff occasionally. Problem is I live in the city and don't really want a huge truck. I know I want a turbo diesel, but most that I have seen either have long boxes or crew cabs. I was wondering if they ever made a regular cab regular/short box 2500 or 3500 cummins truck? I tried searching but couldnt find anything on it here and on the internet.

Weird thing is I saw a 3500 with dual wheels in the back that looked like a short/regular box regular cab. First one I've ever seen and I havent been able to find anything like it after. I guess another route I can take is a ram 3500 chassis cab with the short chassis crew cab and just throw an old bed on there after.

I know this post has been long, but if anyone could help me out I'd be really grateful.

There are lots of C&C's, or regular cab's... you just have to look. Are you looking to buy new, do you need bells and whistles, or do you just want plain? Where do you live? I saw a brand new 06 3500 Dually single cab for sale where I live today, and they had a pretty good deal on it. (don't remember the $$$)
There is even a thread on here for regular cab guys, let me find it and I'll post the link...
Welcome to the DTR!

Sorry for my stupidity, but what are C&C's?

As far as your questions go, I prefer to buy used, bells and whistles are secondary (ie I really don't care if they're there or not), I live in Calgary AB, Canada where it can get really cold and have a ton of snowfall but it can also be really warm and nice out.

Thanks a lot for your help. I know there are regular cabs out there but they're almost always mated with the longer 8 foot beds, I was hoping for a 6 foot or smaller bed, cus parking a truck even as big as a reg cab long bed is pretty hard in the city.

Check out this thread for single cab trucks...

C&C are Cab and Chassis.

l_jobb is up there around those parts, I'll see how close he is to you, maybe he can help you out.

Thanks a lot for your help madhat! I guess if most single cab trucks have like 8 foot beds i'll have to pick up a short bed C&C and throw a bed on it. Can't find anything on the classifieds here though lol.

Not a problem, you'll find that the majority of the DTR members will do anything to help out.
It is probably a last resort, but go to a dealer and tell them what you are looking for, they can locate a used vehicle. E-bay has a lot of good stuff, there are dealers that advertise on e-bay, and they are credible, sometimes worth flying somewhere to drive it back.

I'll keep my eyes open.

I've only seen one up this way and it had an 8ft box on it. Only suggestion is to phone a dealer/s and let them do the leg work for you. If they want to make a sale they will make an effort to help you out.

I know guys that have mega's and drive and park in Edmonton. Just have to watch where you park. Hehe
Hope that helps.
