A friend of mine has a 99 that he is selling and told me I could have his overhead console with the temp and direction display!
All I have to do it switch is with mine. Any idea if this can be done and how hard it is to do? I'm not sure where the sensors are and where all the wires run?
Has anybody done this? Or should I leave well enough alone?

The wiring harness is not there if it didn't come with the option. It can be added though. I'd leave it be. The MPG is only "ballpark", and the rest of the data, temp, and direction can be had for a lot less money than the price of the harness alone.

 

The mpg option won't work with a 12 valve anyway so you're off the hook there.

 

The "donor" truck only has a compass and temp....can I also take the wiring harness? Or is it a major project?

well for one the rear veiw mirror I believe is automatic dimming on all models with temp/compass? so the rearveiw would have to go to. I am selling an overhead with wiring to the fuse box area minus the rearveiw mirror but wiring for it there I got out of a salvage yard vehicle I was going to put it in my 95 but have since sold the truck and my new one has that option I am selling the counsel on ebay right now it does look like a project for the electrically gifted which I am not.
