The overhead console (map lights) on my 98 2500 fell off.
It looks like there are a couple studs that hold it up in the rear (towards the rear of the truck) and 2 screws that hold it up in the front.
It all still works just doesn't stay up.
I don't know if yours is the same as my '96 - I thought Dodge changed the design of those in the 24v trucks, but maybe that was after 98.5. Yours looks like what I remember of mine - mine has been off the truck for years. If I recall, those "studs" (as you called them) have tabs or ears that slide into slots in the inner roof?
From my scale-model building days, I remember that molded plastic usually cannot really be repaired to full strength. I don't know what kind of plastic these are - possibly ABS, but I don't know. You could try finding some plastic glue and plastic epoxy to "splint" them back together and surround them for reinforcement - that may help against horizontal stresses but I think it may still want to pull apart again vertically. Otherwise, I think your best bet is to look for a used one (wrecking yard, ebay, car-part.com, Craigslist, etc). If you want to go "extreme", you could buy a 3D scanner and 3D printer and market your own replacement parts
When I took mine off to replace the head liner I broke one of the tabs. Mine is how held up with two screws and one tab. It does not look very sturdy but it has not fallen off yet. Also when I finished putting it back together the display stopped working. I checked to connections but no luck.
I did finally buy one off ebay and when it comes I'll take some measurements and see if I can come up with something close to the same dimensions.
Probably something involving some JB Weld.
Maybe something with a cross pin. We'll see.
