overhead console

Did the 02 trucks have the wiring for the overhead compass built in even if it doesn't have the console . Also how do you remove the console to check. If the wiring is there does it have the connections for the compass and the temp...Thanks

I think it depends on the truck. I know two different people with 02's and one has the overhead console and the other doesn't.

I think hes asking about the wiring for the console...not the console itself - he wants to add the console and is wondering if the wiring is already under the headliner.

I dont think the wiring exists under the headliner if it wasnt an option on that paricular truck. I've had a couple of headliners down in the past few months,......from several different trucks. The ones that did not have the OHC, did not have the wiring either. Not to say a harness couldnt be run up from elsewhere.

my 01 didn't, I had just the regular sunglasses holder unit and I found a compass/temperature console unit out of a 99 hemi and also grabbed the wiring harness. I only really wanted the compass/weather function as the milage function is way off from what i have read, my truck gets 26 mpg on the overhead...... I wish

I would guess for sure that the trucks do not have it being it is a simple plug in harness and not hard wired in to the main harness.

This is somthing that I am also interested in. Has anybody done any research from the dealer, like how much the harness is, you wold also need the compass/temp part and the probe that goes out front for the external temp.

If I do get all of the parts is it as simple as just pluging in the the harness that already there or do I have to tap into some wires. I know the temp probe harness is under the hood, but the rest Im not sure about.

plug and play baby the wiring harness will need to be installed across the roof underneath the headliner down the A pillar, and I had to tilt the dash slightly forward and pull the steerinf wheel to the side to plug in the connection. took maybe 2 hours to do it
