No Power to Radio Fuse

My truck blew the radio fuse a few weeks ago (no recent changes to any electrical system). I thought nothing of it and swapped out the fuse, did it again last week. I thought there was a problem but I didn't have time to really look into it untill today when it blew another fuse. I was short on time, so I traced the wire back a bit from the fuse bow and found a small slit where it looks as though it had been tapped into before. There was nothing around it to ground out on but I wrapped it with tape and put a new fuse in, only to find there was still no power to the radio.

I checked the space where the fuse would go with my volt meter and found it dead (0.00V). Everything else is working fine (wipers, blower, etc..). So, what to I start doing to chase this down (I'm pretty bad with electrical stuff).

how about the interior lights. if no lights check the I.O.D fuse then start on the radio again. if you keep blowing fuses stop wasting fuses and put a circuit breaker in to help trace down the short.

I'd check out that spot that looked like it was tapped into. Probably a cut in the wire. But if you keep blowing fuses... Could've melted a wire somewhere. I hate electrical. SO MANY WIRES! I'd just start tracing wires back from that fuse till hopefully you find something. In the worst case, I'd just run a bypass wire straight to the radio. However, I do find it odd that everything else works even though the fuse is blown. Maybe the previous owner knew about this and that's why there was a slit in the wire?

I don't know if your's is the same as mine but I had the same thing happen to me and there is a fuse that the dealer would install upon arrival at the dealership that would put power to the radio and power mirrors. I think DC put it on there so the battery would not be drained during transport. Mine had a little plastic guard over it and it took some pulling to get it out. That fixed mine and it's in the fuse panel along with all the other fuses. Hope this helps.

Clutch1 was right, the IPO fuse (or the same, wcbcruzer).

The guy who wired the pollack switches left one dangling, it was slapping underneath the dash and grounding.
