My 96 Cummins with manual transmission is having problems. The ABS light is on when I drive over 30 mph, and my tach, speedo, ac, and wait to start light doesn't work. My cruise control too. I've searched the threads, but can't come up with an idea where to start. Any ideas? Thank y'all very much

 

If the engine speed sensor isn't operating correctly it tells the computer that the engine isn't running, most everything electronic won't work. Make sure the connector is clean, the gap is correct and the wires are intact.

Thank you very much for the help! Is the Engine Speed Sensor the same thing as the Crankshaft Position Sensor? I'm 4 hours from my house. Can I get around with the truck until I can get home and fix it even without the AC, speedo, etc?

You should be fine, Manual trans is king, your charging system is not working either, make sure you keep a battery charger on it when you aren't driving it.

That's about the only thing that would leave you dead in the water.

 

12 valves don't have a CPS, that's a 24 valve thing.
Many times the ESS is mistakenly called a CPS.
