Newbie needs help

Hello all. Let me start off by saying thanks to all who have posted concerning problems with our trucks. Have lurked awhile and recently had to replace the lift pump, vp44 and filters. Only due to the info on this site was I able to diagnose and repair myself. Again many thanks. Now I have a new problem concerning the overhead computer and have tried to find the answer but to no avail. My overhead computer will not display anything but the elapsed time. All the other displays are ccd. Can anyone advise me where to start looking for the solution to repair this problem? Is it a connector that may be bad? Or something more serious. The problem started before the fuel system problems and has gotten worse. TIA

Check for codes.

When mine started showing "Ccd" in the display my ECM went out.

No codes sixslug. Wouldn't other things be happening if my ECM was going out? Did have 0230 at one time but when I cleared all the codes with the new lift pump and VP44 install no codes came back.

Computers are not smart, they only know what they are told. If a certain sensor tells the computer that all is not right the computer can generate a response if it has been told to. Usually it takes two other different micro processors monitoring the same stuff to determine that one of the three is wrong. Our trucks don't have this so when there are no codes and there is something wrong it's usually the computer. However it could be that your ECM has "forgotten" that you have an overhead display as not all trucks do. It may just need "reminding" with a flash. I would first try disconnecting the batteries and let it sit, a good chance to clean the terminals and grounds then reconnect. It (the ECM) might find the overhead by itself.

Thanks for the reply Busboy. Have not had time to disconnect the batteries yet. Went out and started the truck this morning to go to work and the display is now working. Go figure.
