Need Tailgate!

Some idiot stold my tailgate a couple of weekends ago, need to get another one. I have a 98 Ram 3500 Dually, Couple of questions:

1) I thought the tailgates for the Ram 2500 and 3500 were interchangeable. I realize, from year to year their are some cosmetic differences, but aren't the tailgates for 94 thru 2002 the same dimemsions? Any difference in the hinges, ect?
2) Having hard time finding a used one, anybody bought an aftermarket OEM replacement tailgate from Rock Auto or some otter aftermaket company?
3) How do the aftermarket OEM tailgates compare in quality and fit to the OEM tailgate? I want a OEM replacement, same quality and match to the original tailgate.

Any info is appreciated!

Try Redlinear for parts.

A neat trick is putting a hose clamp around the passenger side hinge and snugging it up. Its not really a lock, but if they can't grab it fast, they will go get somebody else's.....

Reversing the hinges on the tailgate will also work. Then add a tailgate lock. Sometime I wonder why the dealer don't install tailgate locks. Oh, that's taking initiate towards customer satisfaction and cost them money.

94 has different hinges and mounts.
95-01(02) the same.
3500 has holes in it for the gate mounted lights.
2500 no holes for lights.

I put a Rock Auto tailgate on my 03 before selling it. Seemed to be good quality, but the trade school that painted it said the aftermarket tailgates don't hold up well.

Don't forget that if you buy a new one, you'll have to buy all new hardware too.
