Need some help with rear brakes

I have a 2001 Ram 3500 with rear disc brakes. We just got back from a trip to florida with our travel trailer. On they way back we started having problems with the rear brakes ( at first we thought it was the trailer until we unhooked)

when accelerating from a stop it feels as if the brakes are not releasing and you have to really get on it to get it going. Once you get going it seems fine. I also notice that as I'm stopping it feels like the brakes suddenly release and then recatch, just before coming to a complete stop.

I haven't had a chance to pull a wheel yet, but was wondering if anyone else was familiar with this situation. Thanks for any help.

Check your combination valve to be sure it is working and not stuck. The other thing to be sure of is that there is no water in the rear caliper hydraulics. The symptom sounds like old brake fluid that has absorbed too much water.

That's the same sympton I had with the ABS. I don't know but if you got it, something to check. but then that would do it with the water in the brake fluid thing.

Not sure if the rear discs are set up with hoses or are steel lines all the way like drum brakes but your symptom sounds much like a damaged hose. Sometimes the inner layer of hose will separate and become a flap in effect becoming a one way valve. You apply the brakes and they don't release or release slowly, pads wear fast.
