Need new tires!

Hey everyone. Need some new tires on my 2000 dodge. I will be running the factory aluminum rims, 2" front leveling kit and putting Bilstein shocks all the way around. My question is, 305's or 315's? Pro's and con's. And what brand are y'all favoring. Not much into taking it into the mud, mostly local driving. But, want a bigger tire! Thanks for any input here.

I am running Wild Country MTX 315/75/16 on a 10" wheel. I like the look, but I am going to need to get some more soon and may go back to a 305, have not decided. With the 10" wheel and the mud terrains the tires rubbed a bit even with the 2" leveling kit, but with the factory wheel you should be fine. I am not sure I would go with a 315 on a factory wheel though. Others may chime in.

Thanks novahauler for your reply. I think I'm going with the 305/70/16. I'm hoping not to have any rubbing. My son is taking the truck over soon and just wanted to give it a little bit of "attitude" for him. lol. Thanks again!

I had the Pro Comp 305/70/16 and they worked great. Very stable at freeway speeds. I did have a tiny bit of rubbing on the plastic fender liner at full lock, bit it caused no problems.

I replaced them with 295/75/16 Nittos and the truck initially wandered all over the place. After they wore in a few hunderd miles they got better, but not as stable as the 305/70s I'm real sure the taller sidewall on the Nittos is part of the steering wander problem.

Godyears are great. Michelin LTX wear like soft butter, stay away. 14k out of my set and they're near bald. No tread wear warranty on commercial/ load range E tires so I'm ******. I'm running Uniroyal 235/85/16 and the milage went up considerably from the 285/75/16 Michelins. They're both around the same height.

Back in the day the Goodyears were softer and wore out pretty fast. I'd run the comparable Generals and get over twice the mileage.

If you don't need mud tread get the A/T version and they will be quieter and smoother. My Michelins LTX's are wearing like iron, not sure what esde is having issues with.

The toyo and Nittos are nice but Made in Japan. I have swayed towards buying the U.S brands and like my winter tires. They are made by Bridgestone for Les Schwab IIRC

Thanks guys for your input...Yes...I really don't need a mud tire...I'm at a point that I don't think I need "E" tires...My truck does't haul anything,doesn't pull anything..It became a retired work truck for street and highway..I know,what a waste...

Found a fellow selling 6 Goodyear Wangler tires with 400 miles on them..Truck blow up,so now he is parting it out..All 6 tires on rims for $1,000..He said the tires are "F" series...(235x85x16)...Never heard of a F series tire..

Maybe F rated tires means Fishy..

Maybe as in F-250 Super duty?

They would work out for you and you can maybe get some money back on the wheels.

I'm running 315's on the factory steel wheels, it's been four years and no issues
