Need Help Fuel Gauge

Let me start at the beginning the reading was erratic then went to nothing then would work then not. Dropped tank checked sending unit but check out ok with meter. But when I inspected the float it had wore out the hole and had a groove were the arm went in the float. So went ahead and replace the sending unit after putting it back together before putting fuel in check and it read E put in 5gal. gauge read 7/8 full. Now what? Sorry didn't say this is on sons 2001 2500 and had just put Fass pump and filter on about month earlier work ok until about week ago.

Did you use a draw tube? Dose it interfere with the movement of the float arm?

I was thinking the same thing, wires reversed.
1/8 is reading 7/8
Figured you just unplugged the connector and plugged it back into the new module. If you cut wires there could be the problem.

When I plugged it up empty it didn't move off E maybe didn't waite long enough. Also did a gauge check by holding trip button in with switch in start position.
