mystery springs

I recently got a set of what I believe to be after market front springs. The guy I got them from said they were lift springs but he didnt know how much. They look like they will be about 2 to 3 inches but I am not sure. Is there a way to tell before I install? Or, do I have to throw them in and find out?

I'd go to an auto supply that has a stock height spring and measure its height and spring diameter then compare to what you have.
