Mirrors

Manual Mirrors, (Flip outs) glass does not stay put, no vibration issues, is there a way to tighten up whatever holds the glass in place?

Thanks

Ive asked around most people said you cant tighten the glass and that you have to buy new mirrors. But a couple people said that if you break the glass out of it then you can tighten something and get new glass put in.

Adjust it to where you're comfortable. Then apply some Quiksteel between the glass and outer holder in a fewl small areas. It'll hold.

I did that on my old ford and it held for about 15,000 miles until I completely smashed it on a fence post and had to buy a new one.

You can carefully pry the mirror glass off with a putty knife. Its only held on with about 6 dobs of silicone. The fishing line trick may work better. After that take that compression nut off w/ some channel locks, press the tabs inward slightly and thread it on with the channel locks to your disired tightness. Then clean off the old silicone and apply a few dobs of fresh and tape the mirror in place overnight. Keep it warm though or it won't completley dry and you'll lose the mirror glass in short order. Good luck, this worked for me and haven't had any problems for almost 2 years now. Kurt
