map lights

Ok, I've searched and found some threads about the dome and map lights but nothing like what I am experiencing.

I noticed a few weeks back when I went to shut the truck off, the map lights flickered real dim and stayed on after I had killed the truck. I thought it was odd and figured it probably happened when I turned the ignition switch off. Sure enough, I reached up and jiggled the ignition switch and off they went. So all was well and good until recently. Now they are just staying on all the time really dim. When I come out to start in the mornings, they're on, I can peak out the window at night and see them on.

So here is what I have come up with:
1. When I walk out to the truck, the map lights are on dim.
2. When I unlock the door with the key fob or when I open the door, they come on bright just like normal.
3. If I turn on the headlights and/or parking lights, the dim map lights go off.

I'm thinking ignition switch (with how all of this came about), but what has me thinking MAYBE headlight switch, is when I turn the headlights/parking lights on, the dim map lights go off.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks for being such an incredible board!

I have no idea but it does sound like an electrical connection or possibly a relay acting up. This may only be discovered by chasing things.

It was the ignition switch. Got it switched out today and the lights are shutting off when they're supposed to.
