Looking for rear bumper
Looking for rear bumper
Ok I'm looking for a Black rear bumper that is tuff as heck. My truck has been backed into twice and the persons have left the scene. And i'm stuck getting my truck fixed. So want a better back bumper not chrome but Black. I would like to have my cake and eat it too cause I would like it to look good too.

Re:Looking for rear bumper
There are several really good ones such as Ranch Hand, Tiejan, Browns etc...
Some of the best "rear bumpers" Ive seen have been custom made at some local welding shops. Check around and gets some ideas.
The best one I saw was a 4" rear pipe bumer with a 4" drill bit (like the ones used for oilfeild drilling) welded on each side. It was scary!!

What ever you get (I like Ranch Hand), make sure it can withstand your winters up there. If they salt the roads often, power coating might not hold up over time.
Re:Looking for rear bumper
Rear bumpers are pretty easy to fab up.
I will try to get a picture up of mine in the next day or so.
Have you tried calling some of the local metal shops?
How much you looking to spend?

I made mine out of 5 inch Drill steem. It is one strong bumper and it is easy to make. 8)

Thats interesting....did you just weld brackets onto the pipe?? or did you make a custom bumper like a ranchhand?? I'd definitely be interested in seeing your bumper.

Thanks for the reply's, I have a welder friend and i was going to ask him if he could weld one for me. I don't really know what I want to spend, but I want it strong as heck so I figure I will have to pay for it ;D but i'll look at those ranch ones too.
any pics would be great too thanks again

Re:Looking for rear bumper
It doesn't cost much at all to make one and a well-made home bumper is a lot better than Ranch Hand. I have used Ranch Hand in the past and I have bent, broke, and ripped them off my trucks >
. Do yourself a favor and build them yourself (if you know how to wield GOOD) Go to Ranch Hand web site and you will get some Ideas of some different bumper designs. I'll do my best to get some pics of my truck on here ASAP

Re:Looking for rear bumper
woof,
The Ranchands come from Texas - I see you live in Vancouver. You may be interested, I recently priced a RanchHand grill guard in Edmonton and they wanted $1800 plus Tax.... I think it would be much cheaper to make or at least design one yourself. You could buy a welder, grinder, material, and whatever else you need for way cheaper than the bumper.

Re:Looking for rear bumper
Ive been drooling over the Ranchand type bumpers since the first time I went to Texas....we just dont have anything like that here. Yet, down in Texas probably 50%+ trucks have an aftermarket bumper.
