Lights not working...sometimes

Alright so im driving along going from high to low high to low as necissary when low suddenly doesnt exist, its off. I swith the high back on and they work then back to lows and nothin. Then on third try bingo they work again. This problem has been plaguing me all weekend and i havnt had time to really look at it. I dont think it involves the switch in the dash its only when switching back and forth with the high, low, windhield wiper lever. Any ideas.

Thanks

On a side note, and this is a very dumb question, but the temp gauge were does it gain its reading? From the coolent? and were from in that proccess derectly as it comes out of the block or the radiator?

start with a headlight switch, there like 20 bucks, and easy to swap.
I had one done under warranty, and another one since.

How you do that. Pull the Dash and unplug and plug in new one? How do you pull the dash, were are the release points?

Thanks

Nope. Its only in flipping the lever back and forth between high and low that it does this so how probable that its the actaul switch on the dash.

The open design of the multi-funtion switch (hi/lo turn signal, etc) allows gunk to build up and make poor contact.
Often just spraying aerosol electronic cleaner at the base of the MF switch while switching it back and forth will clear up the problem. If not replace the switch.
Most often I see this problem on trucks where the brights are seldom used but it can happen to any of them.
