Lights??

Ok this is a hard one to explain but i stopped the other night turned off my headlights and when i turned them back on i had no dash lights or park lights. Now here is where i am lost this has happened once before the last time it was a blon fuse this time it isnt i cant figure it out. Here is the deal i like i said i ahev no dash lights or parks lights but , if you very slowly pull the headlight switch out to the position between off and tha park light position the dash lights and tail lights will com on, but as soon as you pull them all the way to park light or headlight position they will go off. Please tell me somone has a clue. Like i said i have checked all fuses and have a brand new headlight switch.

The switch is obviously the problem since it works the half way position.

Lights

What is happening is you are making contact when the switch is almost out, when you pull the switch fully out you are back to where the contacts are worn. If you can take the switch out contact cleaner will probably help restore it for awhile but it will likely only be temp fix. If they are done for take them apart if they can be and see how they are made and maybe they can be burnished and or rotated and made to work for awhile.

It is also common for the terminals in the switch connector to loosen off, creating resistance and heat which destroys the switch and connector. Having extra lights wired into the circuit will aggravate the problem.

I will check the switch tommorow, but why i assumed it wasn't was because this same thing happened A few weeks ago and i first thought it was the switch so i went and bought a brand new switch and it still did the same thing i checked the fuses a couple were blown i dont remember which ones but i replaced them and bam i had my lights back
