Question license plate lights

I am sure I saw someplace where someone of you guys found a direct replacement for our license plate light in a junk yard on another type vehicle. I don't know what it was, and my light sockets are corroded and falling apart on my 96 dually. Does anyone know of a doner vehicle that has the same type light fixture we have?? I did a search and found nothing.. thanks

I completely did away with the crappy factory plate lights. I put in oval chrome/metal lights that you can buy at Autozone. No more plastic to melt or rot out and it looks factory.

All it takes is a hole saw or a dremel to make them fit.

Don't have a camera with me right now or I would take pics.

If you can't find em, I'll get the part number the next time I go to A-zone.

I used the cracked rest of my old license plate lights and glued an LED "bulb" into it, glued the whole shebang in place and it still works after 2 years. Much better than the stockers that rotted away quickly, where the bulb burnt the plastic etc.

My lamp sockets were a mess (like everyone else's). I searched Rock Auto and they list Dorman 85889 as the socket for the lamp.

http://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/prt,42,85889

Looks right for the lamp end. I presume they don't have any connector on the other end. Has anybody ever tried them?

I can't find a local parts store that stocks Dorman.

LMC has them for $15 each + shipping. That can't be much better than mopar.

I'll probaly check the U-pick-it yards. I can't see paying $30 for two little lights from the dealership.

Thanks!

I've looked at my local autozone a few times and haven't seen these lights. What make are they?
