led light bar on 2nd gen
led light bar on 2nd gen
I have 97 with cab lights and wanted to put a light bar on truck but I was wondering what it would look like. Would the light bar be in the way. Does anyone have any pictures of a 2nd gen with cab lights and a light bar.
^^^^That is how I would go, especially with a white truck, the reflection off the hood is so bright, usually, that it is hard to see thru it.
For off road and desert racing, a high hoop on the bumper with an array of KC or Cepek facemelters right at the upper grille edge worked really well....

^ I did this but it's 180 watt and not legal for street. After driving in the rain for 500mi in the dark I am ready to add better headlights and Led auxiliary!

I personally use mine off road only, out camping or exploring in the hills. If I had to use the light on a desolate hwy I would. Id take a ticket over my truck in the body shop to avoid hitting large wildlife. I wouldn't use it in populated areas or busy roads, that's just asking for a ticket or worse and accident. However I know those people are out there unfortunately and I'm sure it will effect those of use who use them appropriately sooner or later.
Are you stating its illegal to have them "uncovered" and/open ready for use? I don't use them on the road and default basically to what ^ 2ndGen stated. Never had an issue in all of the years from running KC day lighters to modern day LED.
Ordered Spyder Led ccfl replacement headlights so lighting the way s/b much better that the old factory lights.

The laws may not be the same everywhere in regards to aftermarket lighting but I do know that in my state the law says that you cant have more than 4 light bulbs on at the same time. This is why the fog lights turn off with the high beams.
And yes, having aftermarket lights uncovered is illegal because they can accidentally be turned on which "may" cause a road hazard to other vehicles. If the police havent bothered you guys about having them uncovered then great.

These LED lightbars are so much brighter and more offensive than anything we ever dreamed of I can't see why they wouldn't be just as serious about having them covered.
Some of the farmers around here will blind you from over a mile away with the stuff they have on their tractors, no joke.
Different states have different laws, I agree with the desolate highway-save my truck statement. I would run them thru Montana's west side considering how many deer I have almost hit...
The smart money is on shutting them off at the slightest hint of an oncoming vehicle....
