inputs on back of radio
inputs on back of radio
is there any aux inputs on the back of the radio? Got a older kenwood sirius reciever and want to do away with the FM transmitter. Anyone got advice on my options?
Never seen anything close to an aux input on the back of any factory head unit However, if you could get your hands on a wiring diagram and a factory CD changer wiring harness for your head unit you might could wire something ups. You will need an install kit if you install a aftermarket deck; it should come with some mounting plates for visual aesthetics. And a wiring harness that you will have to wire to you deck and then it will plug into your truck harness.
The newer Infinity stock option stereos have an input on the back for a cd changer.
I made an adapter for a friend so he could run his iPod though it.
When installing an aftermarket unit it's so much easier to just buy an adapter that goes from the Dodge connector to the new unit's connector.
They're inexpensive, Walmart even sells them.

To install an aftermarket radio you will at the very least need a dash kit like this one: METRA 99-6501
As infidel mentioned I would also suggest a wiring adapter, this makes installation much easier and the next owner will thank you as well for not cutting the factory plug off of the harness.
As for the factory radio, I doubt you have a standard aux input like rca's or a headphone jack. Some of the newer vehicles have incorporated these, but they don't hide them at the back of the radio. They are front and center to show off that 10 year old technology has finally made a headphone jack possible on your dash.
You mentioned getting rid of the FM transmitter, I assume you have a wireless one correct? These are notorious for cutting in and out, as well as having static problems. You may want to consider going with a wired FM modulator. Something alongs the lines of this one.
They work in the same principles but actually tie directly inline with your factory antenna.
