I found a 06 honda civic that i like and i think ima trade my 97 ram in for it. Reason is the fuel milage and my truck has numberous things wrong with it (just little things) and im tired of working on it so ima trade it for a nice vehicle. I hope i dont regret it too much. <cries> lol

Honda, mazda, Hyundai, what ever. Diesel went to $1.506/litre( $6.86 can/gallon== $5.71 us/gallon) today. My truck has a 129 litre tank at 1.51/litre thats about $195 to fill from bone dry. I know its not the trucks fault but come on can we really afford that kind of money? I get about 20 mpg ( canadian gallon) thats 20 miles for $6.86 = $.34/mile. Gas here is $6.05 today and if you had a small car at 40mpg= $.15/mile. I don't know what is the right move but the day of just driving for something to do is out the window for me. Too bad seeing I love to drive the old cummins. Xmas 2004 fuel was $.70 /litre, I think its the beginning of the end. High diesel fuel price = high everything else price. My $.02 worth.

 

Not to be a jerk, but if you can say you'd love a civic... then a CTD Ram wasn't for you in the first place... in my opinion anyways.


This will sound cliche and goofy but when I rev my truck up, it revs me up. Regardless of fuel prices, I will always drive a diesel... I may drive it less, or maybe go a little easier on the go fast pedal... but I will never trade down to a much lesser vehicle due to fuel prices.



Now I could partially see trading due to mechanical issues or a vehicle's milage... but never because of fuel prices.

 

You are making the right move for your situation. Your know it yourself. You will love passing by the gas station.

 

well like i said im not only trading my truck for the fuel prices but it consistantly needs worked on and im getting tired of it!

 

look at a small truck...V6 or a little SUV... I cannot undestand the switch from a truck (like a HD) to a small japan city car...

 

Could have at least stayed diesel, and got a VW. Love mine. Course I kept the dodge for the smile factor.

I feel ya on the fuel prices. I kept mine and just got a smaller car to run around in. The truck is now offically in "work/toy" status. But like others say, do what you need to do to make it work, just make sure you won't regret it down the road. I did that with my '89 Cummins and boy do I miss her...

 

I did that with my 97. I got a 4runner I had the 4runner for 4 months 3 of them I was looking for a 98 12 valve ctd.

 

You getting a coupe or 4 door? Those are awesome cars, and the 2 door was completely engineered right here in the US! In fact I helped! There is even a part in the door that I developed.

These are well built, well made cars and easy as pie to work on. Heck I can remove the entire door by myself in under probably 3 minutes no joke. Enjoy the civic.

 

When I bought my truck back in '95 it was darn economical to drive - 21 MPG and with diesel fuel always cheaper than gas it made sense as a daily driver (70 miles a day to work) and on those vacations pulling a boat along with an overcab camper - I never regret it at all. But now I've had it parked since end of Feb. & bought a little Suzuki as a daily driver & I've got to decide if my truck is just an expensive hobby that I can't afford anymore.
