Hw is a Laramie SLT 1996 SUPPOSED to be equipped?

Since mine has no original serial numbers that I can find, and the Florida issued number won't give me the information on my truck, I need to know how my 1996 Laramie SLT 4WD 2500 diesel is SUPPOSED to be equipped.
So far I have figured out the obvious:
Power driver seat
3:54 gearing
47RE tranny
manual transfer case
sliding rear window
leather seats
AC
cruise

What ELSE should I expect?

Going by my 95 SLT...power windows, overhead display and infinity stereo system..That's about all I could think of...

I don't know if a red interior was standard or option..

I would say...leather seats was a option...

Well, my Infinity stereo system is gone for sure. What does the overhead display read out?

In 96, some SLT Laramies came with Infinity, overhead compass and power seats. Mine did not, so none of those features were automatically present with that trim level. Mine also has a manual transmission and an open differential.

My radio was replaced with an Alpine single DIN (haven't decided whether to keep it or install a five dis unit out of a 95 RAM that I have in the garage). Don't know what my overhead console is supposed to read, but so far just temperature. Mirror glue came oose. Maybe compass sender is in mirror? And I'm betting on an open diff, but what codes would be on the dif tag for open or LS?

Go here and fill out the info and tell them you want the build sheet, it will tell you all the options your individual truck came with.

This will also enter your name and address into their database for any future recalls.

My 2001.5 has a VIN number lasered on the bottom of the frame rail under the passenger seat. Maybe look there on your 96.

Thanks; nothing there, but I've been suggested that one is under the carpet under the passenger seat.

Got the story on why the VIN numbers were removed. The truack had been stolen from the seller and recovered minus all numbers. The thieves were caught with twelve RAMs with the same purloined VIN...
Seller had to get a Florida assigned number when the truck was returned to him.

Don't you have to have a VIN to do that???

How did you get it licensed and titled without a legal VIN present on the vehicle?

To answer your original question, an SLT Laramie could have any number of factory available options or deletions. For example, it could have been ordered with camper type folding mirrors which would have deleted the power/heat offering. A rubber floor mat instead of carpet, etc.

Leather seats were often reupholstered at the dealership if the truck was present, but had cloth and was a sure sale (happened often at Dave Smith in Kellogg ID).

The only real way to be sure what original equipment your truck had was by a build sheet, which requires a VIN.

A factory service manual for your year truck will have many answers to what equipment was available and how to ID it.

If no tags are present on your diffs, you can figure out gear ratio by getting the rear wheels off the ground and turning them one full turn, counting the revolutions of the driveshaft, or pull the rear cover and count the ring teeth....

As for options in 96, there weren't that many aside from two-tone paint and power windows/locks and stereo, wheels/tires, camper/tow/plow, gear ratio/trans etc..

It has a legal Florida-issued replacement VIN.

You may never know, unless you can find the original purchaser and see if they have a record of it...

I would think you should have been notified of a replacement VIN if you bought it from a dealership. I think its a law since the storms in the south caused major damage to vehicles that were then dried out and sold up north and out west.
