How much life is left in the 94 V8 ram?

I know its a gasser question, wasnt sure where to put it.
sorry guys
My fiance has a 94 V8 1500 dodge ram auto. with ~235,000 miles. no engine or tranny rebuild that i know of, at least not in the past 100K. Have been keeping oil and tranny fluid in it. Has some loose joints on the front end, (dont they all at that age).

It has come time to either buy new tires to put on the thing or roll it off the cliff and find something else. I think it blue books around 2.5 grand. Trying to decide if I should expect it to live through another set of tires, or if i should be lookin for something more dependable for her. Getting married 3rd oct and really dont need the debt of a truck right now.

So i guess my question is, how far can these V8's go before coughing up blood on average? Got any idea what an overhaul would cost and if its worth it? what will be first to go kaput on this thing?

thanks in advance

like any engine if its been looked after, it should live. I have no experience with that particular engine, but if you dont want or need a truck payment, my advice is to start saving the truck payments you would need if you got rid of the truck, that way if the truck does pack it in, you are used to the payments and you will have saved a huge down payment(depending if the truck lasts a long time)

and I'm sure there are cheap tires both new and used that you could instal so your not wasting a big ol'pile of money to make the old truck road worthy

My 2 cents

If you were asked the question.....Is the truck dependable right now? If your answer is yes then put a set of tires on it and drive it till it dies. You can always take the tires off on put them on something else.

If your answer is no, then get rid of it and find something else.

Only you can answer the question as you know the truck. My 97 1500 had over 250,000 miles on it when I sold it and it was more than dependable. The guy that bought it still drives it today and it's over 400,000 now with a transmission being the only major replaced part.

Or hit the salvage yard or craigslist and find some good used tires. I haven't bought new tires for anything, ever. never had a problem.
