My trucks a 2001.5 too--still have the original batteries. I'm afraid to replace them because I think they are magic and might last forever.

Maybe he was talking about your Harley instead of your Ram. Just kidding, but seriously, back in old days, before AGM batteries, it was a good idea on harleys.

My Ram is an '04, and still on originals. I'm still running original brakes, ball joints, exhaust system and tires. About all I've done to my truck in 80,000 miles is change the oil and filter, trans oil and filter, air and fuel filters, and rear axle lube.

I replaced mine about 2 months ago with 155,000 on the clock. I never saw it coming. The truck sat for almost two months and started right up, drove it for about 30 miles. And they never started again...

I'm on at least the third set of batteries, as when I bought it there were cheap *** Interstate batteries dated to 2002. I replaced them in 2005.

Still on my originals, but the truck spent the first half of its life in Texas, so they probably didn't get worked as hard as they do up here in Pennsylvania now that I have it.

Wow.

I was thinking I was doing pretty good with my originals.

I was sure I'd have to replace them sometime this past winter, they started cranking a little slow, but must have found a second wind or something, back to cranking like new.

I jinxed myself.

Right after my last post, I had to replace them.

I got the DieHard version of the Optimas.
Got a deal and points if I used my Sears Card.

I'm not sure.

I have allways thought that I have still my original batterys. My truck is built 3/1998 . My batterys are yellow with some black on tops.
