Help With Tow Mirrors

I have a 2001 3500 that has the smaller regular mirrors on it. I bought a set of tow mirrors off of ebay that the guy said came off of his 02 2500. I assumed that it was the same body style as mine but when i recieved them I noticed they were the wrong ones. Is there anyone out there that knows if I can change the bases out from the smaller mirrors to the tow mirrors and if so how do I do that. If not is there anyone out there that wants to trade a set of tow mirrors for a 3rd gen for a set for a 2nd gen. Thanks for any help.

I did mine but I wanted heat and power. I had to buy 01 and older tow mirrors and 02 and newer heated power tow mirrors. Then I took the two sets apart and made heated power tow mirrors for my 01. The tow mirrors you have will not fit on the small OEM mirrors that came on the truck, so unless you really want power and heat like I did you will be better off to sell them and buy the right ones. If your mirrors are power and heat I may be interested in them. let me know.

no they are the regular manual tow mirrors, thats the other reason i thought they would be the correct ones. oh well maybe i can at least get my money back from them or be able to trade for the correct ones.

You want 'flip out' tow mirrors. they are the rectangular ones that stand up fpor a wider look down the sides of your truck. The West coast tow mirrors for the 3500 are the metal tube framed ones that mount on the door. Sounds like you got the stock "Mickey Mouse" style heated power mirrors: oval in shape but only fold in. Kool-vue is manufacturing power heated flip out tow mirrors for the 2nd gen bodystyle as we speak. If you already have the mirror controller and 'heat button' they should bolt right up, however you also need the base plate as they are heavier and won't bolt up w/o it. Kurt
