Hello,new member/truck

Finally got a different truck today.2001 2500,4x4,quad cab,Cummins HO.

Love the truck.Plenty of power for now since I am coming from a 95 GMC 6.5 TD.

One question is the original owner has used Mobil Delvac 1300 Super & just wondering if I should continue using it.Also should I use a Mopar filter.Always have had good luck using genuine filters on my other vehicles.

Another question is how do I tell if its equipped with keyless entry?Only got one key with truck.

Thanks.

Hello and welcome Eric. I don't know about the oil, I use Delo for now, but the truck should have keyless entry. I was in the same position when I bought mine and the dealer can set you up with a new remote for around $25.

Welcome aboard! Nothing wrong with Delvac, so if it's easy for you to get, run it. Plenty of people running that and Rotella, which I usually buy in a six gallon box at Sam's Club. For filters, many people run the Cummins Fleetguards, since you can buy them much cheaper than what the Dodge dealer will charge you for the same thing. I just go over to the Cummins dealer about 5 miles from me to buy mine; lots of folks buy them from Geno's Garage (they're an advertiser on the site, I think). Still others run Baldwins, Donaldson's, I think it boils down to which high-quality filter is most readily available. I think we probably have some Amsoil users around here, too.

Iam in the same situation, I just bought an 01 and got 1 key. I asked the dealer how much the keyless entry would be and they told me about $200 installed. But i may already have it???...hmmm. How can we find out?

Local Dealer took the VIN & did a vehicle information inquery on it.Printed off a sheet that lists everything about the truck including if it had keyless.Mine does not have it.Oh well.
