Heater smell
Heater smell
Can anyone tell me if they know why I get a "Musty" smell coming from my heater (mostly on start up)
It does not stink all the time. Usually when I adjust the heat setting. The weather is a bit colder now and of course, living in the Vancouver area the rain has come again.
thanks

Re:Heater smell
If you have found no leaks, you can locate where fresh air comes in and spray lysol or such,at the dealer they have aerosol can of freshair that can be used,it is most likley just musty from the air cond.My wifes car does this every year and I just spray lysol and let it set,I would assume it kills the bacteria maybe, thats my thought, Goodluck Rick
Re:Heater smell
my guess is dirt and dust in the a/c and heater cores. other than air freshener you could try and clean them . don't know how hard this is on these trucks cause i haven't had a problem yet and haven't pulled the cores yet. if it is like most trucks it will be a pain in the a-- but possible. i have seen people either wash them with water hose or use air when they are dry.
